EDGAR V. MENDOZA

Managing Partner

EDGAR V. MENDOZA, has more than 35 years of corporate and litigation experience. A lawyer and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he is also a Certified Management Accountant (“CMA”) of Australia and New Zealand, Registered Financial Planner (“RFP”), Chartered Trust Estate Planner (US accredited), Author of the Book, “Happier Heirs: Guide to Successful Estate Planning,” published by Central Law Book Supply. He has written various articles in Taxation for Rappler, MoneySense, and others. He has been invited as one of the speakers on Cagayan Valley Business Conference 2020 to talk on the topic: Digital Taxation on Digital Economy. He has appeared in various TV Programs as guest/resource person for taxation and estate planning. He has lectured on Maritime Taxation to the Association of International Shipping Lines, Inc. member lines companies in 2024, 2023, 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018. He regularly conducts lecture on Taxation for various insurance and banking institutions. Together with international speakers, he spoke in the Financial Congress conducted on 17 October 2015 at SM Aura, Taguig, Metro Manila. He has been retained as regular lecturer for Taxation and Estate Planning for Phil Axa Life in coordination with Ateneo Continuing Education Center. He has been invited as a resource person for tax reforms by the Senate.   

  

Mr. Mendoza is a trial lawyer who represents various companies, senior executives and directors in investigations, sensitive matters and corporate crises. Mr. Mendoza’s practice focuses on solving clients’ most difficult legal and tax challenges.  He has been described by his students in Programs and Seminars as very smart and capable attorney with a very fantastic reputation in solving complex legal problems resulting to considerable financial savings to clients.  

 

He has devised and developed many successful estate and succession plans for clients both local and international including family constitutions. He has knowledge of taxation laws of many developed countries and is widely known as an authority in trust laws and taxation in the Philippines. 

 

He has accomplished many legal milestones in his life including winning several Supreme Court cases touching from family law, real estate, civil law, corporate and taxation such as the landmark cases of Leonor vs. Court of Appeals, G.R. No. 112597, April 2, 1996;  Situs Development Corporation vs. Asiatrust et. al., G.R. No. 180036, July 25, 2012;  Guaranteed Homes, Inc. vs. Heirs of Maria P. Valdez, G.R. No. 171531, January 30, 2009; Medical Plaza Makati Condominium Corp. vs. Robert H. Cullen, G.R. No. 181416, November 11, 2013; Drs. Reynaldo Ang and Susan Cucio-Ang v. Rosita De Venecia et. al., G.R. No. 217151, 12 February 2020; Provincial Government of Bataan vs. Hon. Remigio M. Escalada, Jr., et. al., G.R. No. 181311, November 24, 2021; and Peter Rico Rodriguez vs. Gregorio Pastorfide et. al., G.R. No. 256648, February 24, 2025. 

  

He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the U.P College of Law Class of 1989, and two (2) post-grad degrees from the University of the Philippines Diliman including a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. He also completed all the academic requirements for PhD from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting from the University of the East. He is the Founding and Managing Partner of the Firm.  

  

Both he and Atty. Rose were invited to be one of the nominees for Commissioner of Internal Revenue in 2016, both of them declined.
