Atty. Mark was admitted to the Integrated Bar in 2022 and joined MPLaw in October 2023.   

   

Prior to obtaining his law degree, Mark had a brief stint as an Assurance Associate with SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co (SGV). He received his Juris Doctor degree from the UP College of Law in 2022, graduating 16th in his graduating class. Mark also graduated cum laude from the University of St. La Salle with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy in 2016 and passed the Board Examinations for Certified Public Accountants in the same year. Mark graduated as the valedictorian of his high school class of 2012 from the University of St. La Salle – Integrated School.  

  

He has previously assisted in providing tax, estate planning, regulatory, and corporate advice to clients in different industries. He has also handled various corporate secretarial works and compulsory notifications with the Philippine Competition Commission. Currently, Mark's practice includes litigation, corporate, and tax work.  He came from another top law Firm in BGC, Villaraza & Angangco before MPLaw.  

 

He is a corporate and tax lawyer whose practice is highly focused on assisting international shipping line clients with Philippine tax and regulatory matters.  He advises on the tax treatment of international carriers, including income tax, VAT, and documentary stamp tax implications of freight, chartering, and related services, as well as compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and MARINA requirements.  His work includes structuring and reviewing agency and service agreements, handling tax assessments and disputes, and providing day-to-day tax advisory support to shipping principals and local agents.  He also assists clients in navigating treaty relief, special tax rules for international carriers, and the interplay between maritime regulations and Philippine tax laws.
